After a short phone conversation I explain that my French is to limited to keep up with him and requested he skype chat with me instead. A very kind man, he obliged my request and we dove right into the interview. Following is a translation of Delaviers French.
“Frederic, I know your time is very valuable so I would just like to ask five simple questions:”
1. What was your inspiration to do the first edition of the book?
I wanted a simple book to save time and start your muscle growth, a survival guide from the weight room for home, which will help you learn quickly.
2. You studied at the Paris Faculté de Médecine for three years, did you consider becoming a doctor?
No, it was a friend who was the instructor for the courses, I do not have any formal diplomas. I steal instruction to give it back to those who don't have diplomas.
That is so awesome!!
3. How important are healthy eating habits in reaching fitness goals?
They are important yes, but they vary according to: your environment, activity levels, tone, body type, and race.
4. What is one piece of advice you could offer anyone looking to get into better physical condition?
Watch the champions and review their strategies, but always be careful integrating new aspects to your exercise, what works for one person may not work for another so you must take into account your body type. After absorbing as much information as you can you must establish your own path, and it will be paved with failures.
5. And finally, what is your favorite color? And why?
I love red, It makes me feel alive and wakes me up. It is a reminder that I am fortunate to be a primate and can see what the dog cannot and what spooks the horse.
Thank you so much for your time. Would it be alright if I published this interview on my website daeleyfitness.com? I look forward to your next project getting published. It was great getting a chance to talk with a person I hold a great deal of respect for.
Yes...no problem. Salut Tristan.
